CNC lathe machining curved parts

On a lathe, the shape and dimensions of the blank are changed by using the rotary motion of the work piece and the linear or curved motion of the tool, and it is machining to meet the requirements of the drawings.

Turning is a method in which a work piece is cut by a work piece on a lathe with respect to a tool rotation. Turning machining can be mainly provided by the work piece rather than the tool. Turning is the most basic and common method of cutting and it occupies a very important position in production. Turning is suitable for machining rotary surfaces. Most work pieces with rotary surfaces can be machined by turning methods such as inner and outer cylindrical surfaces, inner and outer conical surfaces, end surfaces, grooves, threads, and rotary forming surfaces. The tools used are mainly turning tools.

Lathes are the most widely used category in all types of metal cutting machine tools, accounting for about 50% of the total number of machine tools. The lathe can be used to turn a work piece with a turning tool, but can also use drills, reamers, taps, and knurling tools for drilling, reaming, tapping, and knurling. According to different characteristics of the process, layout and structural characteristics, lathes can be divided into horizontal lathes, floor lathes, vertical lathes, turret lathes and copying lathes, most of which are horizontal lathes.

CNC turning machining is a typical example of modern manufacturing technology. It has become increasingly common in various fields of manufacturing industry, such as aerospace, automotive, mold, precision machinery, and household appliances, and has become an indispensable machining tool for these industries.

In order to machine a qualified part on a CNC machine tool, first of all, according to the accuracy of the part drawing and the calculation requirements, etc., the process contents, process parameters, etc. of the part shall be analyzed and determined, and a suitable numerical control machining program shall be prepared with the specified numerical control programming code and format. The programming must pay attention to the specific CNC system or machine tool, and should be programmed strictly according to the provisions in the machine programming manual. However, from the essence of the numerical control machining content, the instructions of each numerical control system are set according to the actual machining technology requirements.
